Wow...it's been a while

I didn't realize how long it had been since I blogged last. Not like anyone actually reads this and therefore noticed, but I like to think someone might be missing it. Since I blogged last (August!) I've gotten married, honeymooned in Costa Rica, hosted Thanksgiving dinner and cooked my first turkey, and decorate the house for Christmas, all while working my ass off.

I'm going to make the attempt to blog more. I mean, it takes two seconds, and maybe it'll help me channel some of my nervous energy.

Becka Diamond

I recently came across Becka Diamond when I was reading Style.com's list of girls that were the "Alexa Chungs of tomorrow." I love her look. She just oozes bad assery in an easy-going way.

H & M magazine

A Little Non-Fashion Related Post for My Homies....

I've recently noticed some deprivation of one of my favorite things in life: sleep. I love my fiance'. More than words. However, sleeping with him is no fun. I'm not talking about sleeping with him, I'm talking catchin' zees, sawin' logs, etc etc. It's awful. He can not manage to stay on his side of the bed, and the man produces more body heat when he's asleep than anyone I've ever known. I've made it my mission to discover the secret to a good night's sleep without having to get twin beds.

Most people would just chalk this up as a loss and just increase the coffee intake in the morning. But to me, sleep is muy importante'. I live for cozy, cold pillows; I refuse to sleep on anything less than 600 thread count; and every adult bedroom I have had and ever will have, will always be a peaceful blue-grey with white candles. My bedroom is my sanctuary and a peaceful sanctuary equals a fantastic night's sleep. The absence of my favorite peu de luxe (yes, I just mixed Spanish, French and English in the same paragraph. I'm worldly like that.) got me thinking about the little luxuries in life that really make you feel special.

That perfect pair of warm wooly slippers that you wear every time you're feeling down, or a set of floral pj's that feel as soft as the kind you wore as a kid but could look fabulous under a fur coat during a grocery store run....Or even a box of freshly baked cupcakes and a bottle of champagne during a night in....Whatever it may be it's the little luxuries in life that can turn any frown upside down.

So I encourage everyone to every once in a while say "fuck it" and indulge yourself. Buy the expensive pair of jeans that makes your ass look fantastic. Eat that 4th piece of cheesecake.

Coco Sumner to Cover Love Magazine

Coco Sumner (daughter of Sting) is one of two people to cover the September issue of Love magazine. For those of you who aren't familiar with Love, it's a twice yearly magazine and it's amazing, get familiar. Seeing as how vampires are the new prep-school kids, this second installment of the mag is "New Blood" themed. Everyone featured in the magazine is young and on the rise, and they include Alexander Wang, Evan Rachel Wood, The Willis Sisters, Taylor Momsen, and more. 

Love hits news stands Monday, August 24th.

Laurel Canyon

I'm doing a photoshoot in a couple of weeks, and I have dubbed it "Laurel Canyon." It's going to be shot in a great house in Topanga Canyon, and the photographer wants "cool hippie/gypsy." A few years ago I read the book Laurel Canyon and it made me love living in LA even more. I have been a huge follower of the 60s and 70s rock scene, and to get all the in's and out's of it was really fantastic. So needless to say, I'm really excited about this shoot! Here is one of my bigger inspirations. It's an editorial from Fashion Rocks magazine last year. The guy is Dhani Harrison, son of George Harrison, and it's fantastic. Enjoy!!

More Inspiration/Street Style

I love this girl's look. She has managed to make a denim skirt look really awesome. And I NEVER thought would be cool again after all my Oklahoma friends started wearing them with cowboy boots. Kill me.
