Through the Looking Glass

In honor of Tim Burton's newest flick Alice in Wonderland, I decided to post some photos from an editorial from Vogue December 2003. I recently discovered these via Casey  and I fell in love. In 2003, I was a sophomore in high school in Ada, Oklahoma, where Abercrombie and Fitch was high fashion, so that would explain why I am just now seeing these.

I have always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland. I even tried to have an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday, until my friend told me she was going to dress up as Alice and the whole thing fell through. Anywho, the trailer looks absolutely amazing and I seriously can't wait to see what Burton does with it.

Inspired By: Mirtha Jung (Penelope Cruz) in Blow

I have always loved the 1970s. The music, the style, etc etc. I watched the movie Blow last night and I was extremely inspired by Penelope Cruz as the early Mirtha Jung. She's the kind of woman that men want and women want to be...at least in the beginning of the movie.

"Mirtha became my running partner. Beautiful, passionate... and as crazy as I was. She could party like a man and love like a woman."

Note to self: Grow hair, get a tan, stop wearing jeans.

Rad Hourani's New Line

Alexander Wang has captured edgy, downtown-gals nation wide. When he and Erin Wasson "walked it out" in Fall 08 there really hadn't been anyone who could design an entire collection based on the cool mix of high-end designer and low-end thrifty finds that girls, like Wasson, already had in their closet.....Until now.

If anyone could stand a chance of stealing Wang's crown it would be stylist-turned-designer Rad Hourani. Rad by Rad Hourani is nothing innovative, nothing prophetic, but it does scream cool without trying to be cool. The 15 looks of his collection--all unisex-- are also very wearable in cotton, jersey, and denim instead of cashmere and leather of his main line. Prices range from $100-$400 and will be available in stores and on his site in late-November.

Erin Wasson to Show for Spring 2010

According to WWD , Maybelline has become the official cosmetic sponsor for Fashion Week. As part of this role, Maybelline has decided to support several designers in the tents. One in particular, former Maybelline face, Erin Wasson. Although she has been praised for her runway stylings for Alexander Wang and William Rast, Wasson opted for more casual showings for her first two seasons of Erin Wasson x RVCA. She's apparently designed the collection around an unlikely inspiration-- her pitbull, Cream-- so this season will be different from the black-on-black looks from seasons past.

To Bang or Not to Bang

Disclaimer: I realize this is a somewhat pointless, shallow, empty post. But it's my blog and I can do what I want. Don't judge me.

I am one of those people that is never satisfied with their hair. I always want what I don't have, and I get bored very quickly. That being said I am not one of those people that believes "it's just hair." I mean, it is just hair, but I once heard hairstyle described as "your crowning glory." I get that. Good, or bad, hair can really make or break a look. And in my line of work, there is no time for broken looks!

Earlier in the year, I had very dark hair, all one length with bangs. Had it been longer, I would have loved it more than life itself. But, since then, I have been growing the bangs, and the hair, out for my upcoming wedding. With the wedding so close, I've been playing with the idea of going back to the bangs.

Below are some of the reasons I have such inner turmoil...ha:
